Actor and singer Ayushmann Khurrana has unveiled his latest musical creation, a poignant single titled ‘Reh Ja’. Known for his versatility both on-screen and in music, Ayushmann shared that he has always been drawn to exploring the intricate emotions of heartbreak through his work.
Partnering with Warner Music India for this release, Ayushmann expressed his fascination with the nuances of romance, particularly the complexities that arise from heartbreak. “Heartbreaks are layered, and they bring a deluge of emotions for people going through this overwhelming feeling,” he shared. “I love all the shades of romance, and I have always wanted to write more about heartbreaks. It is raw, unfiltered, and cathartic.”
In discussing the inspiration behind ‘Reh Ja’, Ayushmann revealed that the idea for the song had been brewing in his mind for several years. “The idea of this song came to me around four years ago, when synth-pop wasn’t mainstream; it was very indie in the West,” he recalled. Taking charge of both lyrics and composition himself, Ayushmann collaborated on programming with Himonshu to bring his vision to life.
“This is my second single with Warner Music India, and I hope you love it,” Ayushmann added, expressing his excitement about the release.
Reflecting on the essence of ‘Reh Ja’, Ayushmann described it as an exploration of the profound emotions experienced during heartbreak. “Just because one breaks up, it doesn’t mean that they stop loving someone, caring for them, or craving their presence constantly,” he noted. “‘Reh Ja’ is my attempt to show the complexity of a heartbreak, as well as the purity of the feeling of love, of longing in such a situation even when your heart is breaking into a million pieces.”
Ayushmann Khurrana is renowned not only for his acting prowess but also for his soulful voice, having previously captivated audiences with tracks such as ‘Paani Da Rang’, ‘Saadi Gali Aaja’, ‘Mitti Di Khushboo’, ‘Nazm Nazm’, and ‘Mere Liye Tum Kaafi Ho’.
While his music career flourishes, Ayushmann also continues to make waves in cinema. He is set to star alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in an upcoming crime thriller directed by Meghna Gulzar, reportedly based on the Hyderabad rape case.
